Study Portland teachers among most absent in nation

The study found that Portland had 62% of teachers who were frequently absent. On average, Portland teachers miss 14 days each school year, according to the research. That did not count serious, long-term illnesses or pregnancies but it did include training days. According to the study, Portland has more than 600 teachers classified as "chronically absent" or missing more than 18 days of school each year.
