Today, the Oregon Speaker of the House and Governor Kitzhaber rammed through a $2.9B package to build the Columbia River Crossing as a go-alone bridge with no support from Washington State, putting all the risk to Oregon.
However, these same individuals won't fund $1.1M for campus/county veterans service officers. As a legislator, I am sitting here in tears today in the committee as we speak, watching this train wreck happen. It's time for Oregon Veterans to get engaged.
But for a few House Democratic legislators working hard here in the Capitol on your behalf (Reps. Matthews, Witt, and Boone), the majority party of this state has no interest in funding the well-being of veterans.
It's a sad day in Oregon.
