The Value Of A Home!

Foster care in the news: "... it is impossible to address the foster care problem without tackling broader issues of Our Corrupt Family Court's, drug abuse, sexual abuse, and poverty." Thanks to all of you who braved the rain last night to come celebrate the Foster Youth Bill of Rights (SB123) with us! It was a really special event and we were so excited to hear from guest speaker Lynn Tiede (from the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative) about the impact of positive youth development programs like Oregon Foster Youth Connection on building resilience in the adolescent brain. "No young person is a lost cause," she said. We couldn't agree more! Thanks also to our youth speakers Sam and Deedee. You guys rocked! Last Friday Wall Street Journal editor James Taranto tackled head on several of the feminist 'myths' about children and poverty. Pointing out how children in the care of their fathers are less likely to end up on welfare roles.
