Oregon and The Cycle of Addiction then Incarceration

As a father, it hurts me to read of this family's heartbreak. To lose their daughter in this way is devastating. We have got to do a better job making sure our frontline programs, even those being delivered inside the criminal justice system, are working. Otherwise we'll never be able to help people get out of the cycle of addiction and incarceration.
But this story also highlights the need for better public records reform. But-for someone on the inside leaking the full records to the press, this story wouldn't have been fully told. Without sunlight, we won't have change. No family should ever have to suffer like this.
