I am deeply grieved by Judge Michael McShane's ruling to redefine marriage. It is a travesty of justice that marriage, as the foundation of society, received no defense in the U.S. District Court. Attorney General, Ellen Rosenblum, in an extreme dereliction of her sworn duty to uphold the law, refused to represent the interests and the people of Oregon. It is a sad day for democracy when one federally appointed judge can overturn, without any representation, the express will of the people of Oregon.

Supreme Court denies motion to stay marriages for same-sex couples in Oregon
June 4th, 2014 The U.S. Supreme Court has weighed in, and moments ago, the nation’s highest court just served NOM a flat out rejection of their motion to issue a stay and halt marriages for same-sex couples in Oregon. An act deliberately ensuring that more children will grow up motherless or fatherless is not an act of love. I am deeply grieved by Judge Michael McShane's ruling to redefine marriage. Multnomah County issues formal response to lawsuit, calling state ban 'discriminatory and unconstitutional!!
When The Voter's Do Not Approve A New Amendment To The Oregon Constitution What Do The Losers Do? Sue!
Two Oregon couples are suing Multnomah County, Rosenblum, Gov. John Kitzhaber and Jennifer Woodward, a state registrar, arguing that they should have the right to get a marriage license in Oregon. Is Everyone as Tired of This
Approach as I Am? The couples submitted a motion for summary judgment in the case, meaning they asked the judge to side with them without taking the case to trial. As a defendant in the suit, Multnomah County must issue a response to the couples' motion.

Ms. Rosenblum is dead-wrong in her conclusion that the amendment cannot be supported by rational legal arguments.
"Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum is shamefully abandoning her constitutional duty to defend the marriage amendment overwhelmingly enacted by the people of Oregon. She swore an oath of office that she would enforce all the laws, not just those she personally agrees with." — Brian Brown, NOM president - See more at: www.nomblog.com/38947/#sthash.zFsGcSNP.dpuf
Portland Archdiocese joins anti-gay marriage effort!!
Since Pope Francis began his reign as the head of the Catholic Church a year ago, he's sounded a more welcoming tone toward gays. But it hasn't led to a change in church doctrine opposing same-sex marriage -- and that's reflected in the potential ballot fight over the issue in Oregon.
Portland Archbishop Alexander K. Sample told his pastoral staff last month that the Archdiocese of Portland and the Baker Diocese would join the coalition opposing the same-sex marriage initiative.

Nike has thrown its support behind the campaign to overturn Oregon’s ban on same-sex marriage by donating $280,000 to the cause through the creation of a political action committee. The PAC, called the Nike Equality PAC, plans to focus its efforts on collecting donations from Nike employees and Nike-affiliated companies. The news was first reported by the Portland Business Journal, which notes that the company donated $100,000 to start the PAC and its executives donated the remaing $180,000.

Nike forms PAC to Support Same Sex Marriage!!
Nike Inc. has formed a PAC to support marriage equality and seeded it with $280,000 from the company and its executives. The Nike Equality PAC will raise funds from Nike-affiliated donors and support marriage equality. The PAC will work closely with the Oregon United for Marriage campaign, a coalition of businesses and individuals working to earn same-sex couples the right to marry. Nike isn't a newcomer to supporting equal rights. It extended benefits to domestic partners in 2000. It supported non-discrimination legislation in 2005. If Nike Already Supports SS benefits to domestic partners and non-discrimination then why The Push For Same Sex Marriage?

Why Marriage Matters!!
A wealth of examples have been identified by legal scholars who have pointed out the conflicts that will arise between the rights of people who sincerely disagree with homosexual marriage, and the rights of homosexual couples to demand that the state enforce gay marriage whether people support it or not. These conflicts can result in people losing their jobs, professionals be stripped of their professional licenses or being fined by the state, and churches losing their tax exemptions. Most troubling is the impact on children, particularly as the public schools begin the process of indoctrinating them on the subject of homosexual marriage.

The Case for Man/Woman Marriage
A debate is taking place in many countries about whether or not marriage should be re-defined to include gay and lesbian couples. This short video commissioned by The Iona Institute explains why marriage should not be redefined. It explains that marriage between a man and a woman is primarily a child-centred institution aimed at giving children what they long for, namely the love of a mother and father.
In the end this debate comes down to whether or not we believe in the special value to a child of having a loving mother and father. If we believe in this, then it makes sense to have a special social institution (marriage) which recognises this fact. If we don't believe in the special value of motherhood and fatherhood or of the natural ties, then it's a whole other story.
