Wehby Accepts Four Debates, Awaits Merkley’s Response!!

Portland – Today, the Dr. Monica Wehby for U.S. Senate campaign announced that Dr. Wehby would accept invitations to participate in four televised debates between now and Election Day. Accepting these debates underscores Dr. Wehby’s intention to address head-on Senator Merkley’s disingenuous and ineffective first term in the United States Senate. These televised debates include a previously announced October 14th debate on KOBI (NBC), and three additional forums, hosted independently by Oregon Public Broadcasting, KOIN (CBS), and the City Club of Portland. Furthermore, the campaign asks that these additional forums consider televising their debates statewide. The Wehby campaign requests Senator Merkley to promptly accept these invitations in order to procure dates and times that will allow for a public discussion of competing ideas on how best to address our high unemployment and listless economy.

Conservative group files ethics complaint against Jeff Merkley

Senator Jeff Merkley asks IRS to target conservative groups. Using heay handed politics and abuse of power to attack citizens for their political beliefs. Now he faces ethics complaint, along with 8 other Senators. Where does Jeff Merkley get his campaign cash?

Since he entered the Senate in 2009, he's raised nearly $9.2 million for his re-election campaign, according to Open Secrets, the website run by the Committee for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan watchdog group. As of June 30, he had $3.5 million in the bank. 1) Ideological/single-issue groups: $690,697. This category includes those supporting gay and abortion rights. 2) Finance, insurance and real estate: $583,247. 3) Lawyers and lobbyists: $528,826. Merkley picks up a lot of money from trial lawyers, who oppose efforts to limit their ability to file lawsuits. Which raises all of our premiums. 4) Organized labor: $337,300. About 20 percent of Merkley's money from political action committees has come from unions, according to Open Secrets. Merkley is also a favorite of the progressive, socialists, activist left, and he raises a lot of money from small contributors. Many of them contribute through ActBlue, an online fundraising
tool for Democrats.

Wehby, Merkley differ on Contraceptives Ruling

The high court ruled that some companies with religious objections can avoid the contraceptives requirement in President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. Republican Monica Wehby's campaign manager says Wehby "doesn't see a problem with the ruling," as long as every woman has access to contraception through other means. The court's ruling suggested ways the Obama administration could offer birth control to women whose employers refused. Democratic incumbent Jeff Merkley denounced the decision, releasing a statement that called the ruling "an unacceptable intrusion of bosses into personal health options."
